IP ADDRESS

WHAT IS IP ADDRESS?
   IP address is also called as Internet protocol address. It is used to identify the address of the computing devices and communicate with other network via Internet protocol network. If suppose the device is connected to the other network, the device must have a unique IP address within its protocol. Most of the network today, including all computing device on the network use the TCP/IP protocol for communicate to the network. TCP/IP protocol is also called as IP address.

There are two types of IP version:
1.       IP version 4(IPv4),
2.       IP version 6(IPv6).
All computing device have an IPv4 address. But nowadays many of them are using IPv6 address system as well.

·         IP version 4(IPv4):
         IPv4 uses a 32binary bits in a system to make a unique address on the network. IPv4 is expressed in four digits, which are separated by dots. Each number is represented by a decimal number for an eight digit number.
Example: 126.23.63.134.

·         IP version 6(IPv6):
IPv6 uses 128 bits in a system to create a single unique address on the internet. IPv6 is expressed by eight groups of hexadecimal number these are separated by colons.
Example: 2000.cbda.00000.0000.000003527.9526.

There are two types of address:
1.       Static address,
2.       Dynamic address.

·         STATIC IP ADDRESS:
               A  Static address is used to configure the network by editing your network settings. But this type of address is rare and it can create a network problem if you use a bad Internet Protocol.

·         DYNAMIC IP ADDRESS:
      Dynamic address is common in computing device and this address are assigned by dynamic host configuration. The function of the dynamic address is to run hardware such as routers or servers.
Dynamic address is only work for a limited time in a leasing system. If the lease expires, the device will automatically request a new lease to access the network protocol.
