Ravi Shankar is directing the first crowd sourced and crowd funded Sanskrit
animated movie called Punyakoti. The story is an adaptation of an episode from
Mahabharata. The plot is about a truth speaking cow. Ravi explores the growing
man-animal conflict through the story of an impending drought in Karunadu, the
setting in which the story happens.
The idea has impressed
the music meastro, Sri. Ilaiyaraaja, that he has agreed to support the movie
with his magical music.
Ravi has roped in
some of the best animation talent and all the work happens through
collaboration on the Internet. "I have not still seen some of the team
members working on the project", says Ravi who is tracking the entire

Punyakoti’s core team of six members
include some renowned names like Ilaiyaraaja who is giving music in the film.

biggest crowd funded experiment in India and its success can open new
